One of our core ideologies is to keep the production process as clean & sustainable as we possibly can. We're still a small company, but as we grow so will our green footprint.
As of August 2019 we will donate a part of each order towards One Tree Planted to plant a tree and combat the ongoing deforestation.

Importance of Trees

Putting up trees has become quite the trend, but rightfully so.
Trees are the essential force of life. They create the very air that we breathe and filter air pollution. Trees also reduce global warming by having energy-saving shade that creates habitat for thousands of different species.

One of the most important aspects of Trees is that they help remove carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from the air, which cools earth.

There are many more benefits of having trees aside of the ones mentioned above. Despite this, as the human population on earth has increased, the number of trees has fallen. As so, we've nearly halved the number of trees on this planet, and the impacts on climate and human health is showing.

Deforestation for paper, agriculture, building materials and fuel accounts for a huge release of carbon into the atmosphere. Much of this could be avoided if we reduced, reused and recycle more, cultivated hemp for fuel and fiber, and used sustainable and recycled material. This is a all a process that will take time to change, but the climate change does not wait around.
Until this changes, what we can do is put up more trees, as fast as we can.

With each order placed on BAKED, you will have a tree planted in either North America, Latin America, Asia or Africa. We will put out regular statistics on the amount of trees planted so far.

Whilst working with an organisation to plant trees are great, if you've got the space and time, why not plant a tree in you own garden? To see the benefits from planting your own tree, click here.

Green Apparel

Besides adding more trees to the planet, we want to reduce the carbon dioxide (CO2) emission to a bare minimum in the production process of our garments. Hence, we've selected a handful of green-garments listed below.

Fair Wear Foundation

An independent, non-profit organisation striving to improve working conditions in the textile industry.
Fair Wear Foundation verifies that member companies implement the Code of Labour Practice along their supply chain, and checks compliance by monitoring audits and remediation efforts, all to promote transparency at all levels.

Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)

GOTS is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.

The aim of the standard is to define world-wide recognised requirements that ensure organic status of textiles, from harvesting of the raw materials, through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing up to labelling in order to provide a credible assurance to the end consumer.

You can find the full list of criteria for processing and manufacturing, including the environmental, technical, social and qualitative standards here.

Earth Positive

Earth positive apparel is 100% organic with 90% reduced carbon dioxide (CO2) levels.

The carbon footprint was calculated in accordance with BSI PAS2050 methodology, and certified by the Carbon Trust Certifications.
The Carbon Footprint of a product is the total the amount of CO2 and other greenhouse gases emitted as part of a product's manufacture, distribution, use and disposal. Greenhouse gases (GHGs) are so called because they trap heat in the Earth's atmosphere and keep the planet warm. The main gases are carbon dioxide (CO2), methane and nitrous oxide.

The 90% reduction has been achieved by a combination of low-impact organic farming, efficiency in manufacturing and transportation, and the use of renewable energy instead of the fossil fuel based grid electricity.

It has been calculated that a single Earth Positive hooded sweatshirt saves up to 28 kgs of greenhouse gases. These are actual reductions achieved in the manufacturing, without any carbon offsetting.

Organic Content Standard (OCS)

OCS provides an independent certification that the textiles is made with organic grown materials. The aim of this standard is to guarantee the traceability and integrity of the raw materials used during all the manufacturing stages.
It guarantees organic cotton purity of the style you buy.
